Yomi akinfenwa declared house of representatives winner in ondo state

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, yesterday elected its flag bearers for the nine House of Representatives and the 26 House of Assembly seats in the State ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The candidates of the party for the lower House emerged out of the 38 aspirants who vied for the nine Federal Constituencies seats, while the 26 candidates for the State House of Assembly emerged out of the 72 aspirants eyeing the position under the platform of the party.

They will slug it out with other parties’ candidates in the next year general elections in the State.

For the House of Representatives, former Member of the State House of Assembly, Kemisola Adesanya emerged as the candidate of the party for Akure South/North Federal constituency with 38 votes to defeat her closest rival and former candidate of the party in the recent bye-election, Olumuyiwa Adu who scored 19 votes ,while Babatunde Faro polled 11 votes with one void vote in the election.

Others for the House of Representatives are:, Dr. Felix Kehinde (Ondo East/Ondo West) and Festus Akingbaso (ldanre /lfedore).

Those who emerged as candidates of the party for the House of Assembly seats include Olajide Oguntodu (Akure constituency 1); Moses Eruebuke (Akure North); Dotun Olorunyomi (Odigbo constituency 1); Olu Falolu (Odigbo constituency 2) and Adeolu Adeniran (Akure constituency 2).

Others for the House of Assembly are : Tomide Akinribido (Ondo West constituency 1); Femi Olafusi (Ondo East Constituency); Oyewole Aderemi (Idanre Constituency), Babatunde Fadare (Ileoluji/Okeigbo), Ojo Victor (Akoko South East ) and Akintola Olarewaju (Akoko North East constituency) among others.

Distribution of voting materials for electoral officers of each constituency commenced 12:10pm at the State party secretariat .

The House of Assembly primary election which was earlier scheduled for 10am, but commenced 2:15pm in Akure constituency 1 at the State party secretariat with security operatives comprising police, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on ground to maintain law and order.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission( INEC) observed the exercise which was keenly contested and peaceful.

Declaring the result of the primary election for Akure South/North Federal constituency, the Chairman of the PDP Electoral Committee and former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mrs.Jumoke Akindele declared Adesanya winner of the election.

She commended the delegates for their good conduct before, during and after the election.
